BAUHAUS KITCHEN

This was a project formulated after a close family member was thinking about renovating their current kitchen.

They wanted no more handles; resulting in me creating a dipped cupboard edge, which creates that of a stylised, but still fully functional, handle.

They also wanted a very colourful kitchen, changing the cupboard doors and drawers; where upon research came across a Bauhaus inspired kitchen colour scheme.

Finally, they wanted a light coloured flooring; which was identified later on as being laminate flooring.

Before starting anything, I took measurements of everything in the current kitchen, making notes against the proportional sketch I made.

I was then able to create the kitchen, entirely to scale. Once everything was finally modelled, I was able to research different colour schemes for the clients to choose from; resulting in the Bauhaus colour scheme being chosen.

This was a first for creating something to scale in a 3D software, but I feel that I tackled to task well, which was hugely helped by my measurements, and various camera media used for reference at certain stages.

after creating the concept design for their kitchen renovation, it became apparent that they didn’t actually want a bright and colourful kitchen, but instead a more modern, sleek, new design; which would align with their wants as they get older, as well as something that wouldn’t become too much and regretable.

The main factors i had to consider was to make everything white, alongside the handles that they previously wanted to remove.

and finally, they wanted a brightly coloured splashback over the tiles; maintaining the need for a colourful kitchen, but not to a large scale.

Here are the plans I used when measuring up and planning the kitchen layout, before I could then take them into Maya to be 3D modelled up and rendered.

I did also try my hand at creating a perspective drawing of the kitchen, using a single point of interest. Perspective drawing isn’t something I’ve done in many years, but just like riding a bike, I don’t think it was too far from the final design and render, of the kitchen.
